Noosa Everglades kayak and camp 19-21 October

Immerse yourself in the pristine wilderness of one of only two Everglades in the world. We will explore the meandering Upper Noosa River wilderness, offering a unique landscape that is best explored by kayak to fully connect and experience its natural beauty and tranquility. Camp two nights in secluded bush camps beside the river and walk to the ancient Cooloola Sandpatch.

We will camp at Harrys Hut Camping and Day use area Friday night 7/6 and depart Saturday morning at 9am, returning Sunday afternoon.  We will Camp at Camp 8 on Saturday night and back to Camp 3 on Sunday night, where an optional walk to the sandblow is available. The alternative is to keep paddling back to Harrys Hut to camp Sunday night and return home.

Camping permit required - $30 per guest for 3 days - includes Friday night at Harrys Hut campground, Saturday night at Camp 8, Sunday night at Camp 3 where we can access the Cooloola sandblow walk.  You must be a Full Member to come on multi-day Events. ( $35 )

If you wish to hire a canoe, there are 7 sea kayaks available for hire from Kanu Kapers and you will need to book and pay separately yourself. Pick up from Elanda Point Kayak and Canoe Launching Area, 204 Lake Flat Road, Elanda Point. Let them know you are with Byron Hikers and that camping permits have been booked for Harrys Hut, Camp 8 and Camp 3.

What to bring:

Tent, sleeping bag & mat, Stove and pots and utensils for cooking (No campfires allowed). Food for 3 days, Water bottle and Water (2litres/person/day - 2 x 5lt water bladders available from supermarket is suitable), Sun hat, sunglasses, Rash vest/T-Shirt, Board shorts/swimmers, Towel, Shoes that can get wet, Rain Jacket, Shoes and socks for walking, Day pack, Change of clothes with something warm, Torch, Sleeping bag, Insect repellent. Note there are no toilets in the remote camps.
