Fully Booked 4 weeks in the remote, untracked high mountain desert of Ladakh, close to the Tibetan border. This is the trip of a lifetime guided by Kapil's Indian Himalayan Excursions with whom our Club has a direct personal relationship. You are unlikely to meet another trekker in this forgotten land which is surrounded by 6000m snow-capped peaks.
From Manali we travel over to the north side of the Himalaya to Keylong which is an alpine village around 3000m elevation. We'll spend a couple of days there doing day walks to acclimatise and then drive to the western end of the Zanskar valley to Purne. The trek begins in Purne over Gotunta La to Shade at 4200 metres one of the highest villages in the world, to Tantak and Phuktal an amazing monastery ( google it) and on to Sarchu. Then we start on the trek we did in 2018 but in reverse, ending over Pangpo La to Tso Moriri at 4700m, having crossed the highest point, a pass of 5330m. All of the trek is over 4500m We then drive to Leh where trekkers can spend as much or as little time as they want, visiting Tibetan monasteries and remote villages before flying back to Delhi. Cost around $3850 (plus airfares ) for 28 days. This trip has everything. Very remote trekking with chance of wildlife, snow leopard, sheep, ibex, fox , the petroglyphs and also villages and monastery life with many Buddhist prayer walls.
A full itinerary of the trek can be emailed out to interested hikers.
