Bridget sustained a knee injury in the second half of the walk. Walter also was struggling as I guided them back to Rummery Park, arriving at 7.30pm. Just as well that I had a head torch. Not likely to be an insurance claim.
The Postman's or the Nightcap Historic Track is a remarkable walk with multiple ecosystems, massive trees, wildlife and breath-taking views of the Mount Warning caldera, including stunning views of Wollumbin (Mount Warning).
The easterly route starts at Mount Nardi which stands at about 792m, it’s not quite all downhill from there, but we end up at Rummery Park 369m. In the middle there is the Nightcap Bluff which stands at 829m and the amazing Dirangah Rocks (eroded volcanic vents) and great views of the Tweed Valley from the teatree lookout halfway.
19km and Grade 4, we will do this as a keyswap where half the group will drive from Rummery Park to Mt Nardi while the other group starts walking from the Campground. We swap car keys when we cross paths and then all meet back at Rummery Park.
