We now have almost a full group of 12 showing interest in going to Ladakh in September this year. So let's get together for an info and slide night in Byron, Thursday March 12, 6pm at 2\59 Centennial circuit, Byron Bay. We have also opened expressions of interest for the Barah Bangal trek in September 2027, so anyone interested in this trek are also welcome to attend the dinner or on Zoom because info about the trek arrangements like food and accomodation are the same.
As well as info, a dahl curry and a chicken curry will be served to get us in the mood- just $10 per head. Please indicate if you can make it, or if you can zoom in if you are far from Byron.

Int. Women's walk, Nandaly Falls- Sun March 8
Wilsons Creek Road & Koonyum Range Road
08:00 – 12:00
This Sunday morning walk is to take the overflow from our International Womens Week walk which was on March 1 and was very quickly booked out. The International Womens Week walk was advertised by Buskwalking NSW as a promotion to attract new hikers to our Club so they could expand their hiking options. We have created this same hike for our members and guests.
We will drive up Koonyum Range Rd and then hike down Nandaly Rd to the cascade above the waterfall which plunges 200 metres down into Upper Wilsons Creek. There are panoramic views across the valley to the seldom-visited Blackbutt Plateau and into the headwater of the Wilsons River. We then take a path to an interesting water feature variously dubbed the 'bumcrack' or the vulva! We continue on the path until we join the very end of Koonyum Range Rd where there are sweeping views of Woolumbin, Mt Chowan and as far as the Tweed Valley.
Meeting at 8am at the start of Koonyum Range Rd.
Bring water, and lunch. Grade 3: Leader Steve 0414312917, assistant leader Diana 0408103542

Unicorn Falls Creek Forest Bathing and Getting Wet Walk
Unicorn Falls Walking Track
08:30 – 15:30
Our first forest bathing hike for the year will take us to one of our favourite locations – Unicorn Falls and South Chowan Creek in Mount Jerusalem National Park. This walk follows the creek from the falls to a turnaround point where we stop for a swim and lunch by beautiful swimming holes where few people go. Be prepared for rock hopping, some rock scrambling and walking/swimming through water on the way back. I love this walk for its sensory variety, out-of-this-world splendour and the getting wet part! Most of the first half will be walking in silence with several nature connection activities. At the turnaround point we chat over lunch with laughs on the way back as we plunge ourselves into waterholes. Walk time is only 1 – 1.5 hours each way but rated Grade 4 with rock hopping, some rock scrambling and the off-track nature of the walk. Saturday 8.30 am to 3.30 pm. Final details with meeting place will be emailed a few days before the event. Enquiries: David david@davidroland.com.au

International Women's Week- Nandaly Falls Sun 1 Mar -Fully Booked
Wilsons Creek Road & Koonyum Range Road
09:00 – 12:00
To celebrate International Women's Week, Bushwalking NSW is offering members of the public the opportunity to walk with their local club for free as a guest. Nandaly Falls is a spectacular rocky cascade with panoramic views across the 200 metre deep Wilsons Valley to the seldom-visited Blackbutt Plateau. It is an easy loop walk mainly on an old fire trail with about 500m on a single file path through thick forest. This section goes past a small cascade which is a narrow slit in the rock. In keeping with the Womens theme, it has been described as a vulva in rock! We will have lunch at a lookout over MainArm with views as far as the Tweed valley. There is an option to cool off in a small pool below a cascade up above Boogarem Falls. Grade 3. Leaders Cass 0402 503 540, Diana 0408 103 542

Bar Mtn Loop- Border Ranges, Thur 26 Feb
Bar Mountain picnic area
09:00 – 16:00
This half-day Grade 3 walk is in the Border Ranges National Park on Bundjalung Country. It starts beneath towering eucalypts on the western side of the Wollumbin (Mount Warning) Caldera, and heads west, gently down through magical World-Heritage listed Gondawana Rainforest with its 2000 year old Antarctic Beech trees. At an elevation of approx 1,135 metres, it can be a good few degrees colder up there so I would suggest packing a jumper/coat.
At the base of the walk there is a lookout with a vista over Collins Creek and, weather permitting, all the way to Mount Lindesay and Mount Barney. There we will stop to rest, perhaps have something to eat, and enjoy the view.
The walk back up to the picnic area is a little steeper, with some views and flora and fauna to enjoy on the way. For those who would like to, I will suggest we take the walk down at a 3/4 pace in quiet, connecting with the land, reutrning to chatting as we approach the lookout and for our walk back up. The traditional billy will be boiled back at the picnic area for those who enjoy a cup of tea.
Meeting at the Bar Mountain Picnic Area at 9am. Grade 3, Leader Kerrie, 0432872148, assistant Steve 0414312917
