Gidguum Gulganyi Day 1, Sat June 7
Train Street & Station Street
08:30 – 16:00
The Gidjuum Gulganyi is the new 4-day trail from the other side of Unicorn Falls in Main Arm all the way to Minyon Falls. This trail has been 10 years in the planning and is already well-booked for the 4-day version. This is an opportunity to hike the best part of Day 1 as it winds through rainforest around Whiskey Creek, exiting at the MIddle Ridge Rd carpark, about 2km short of the complete Day 1. Expect rich, sweet calls from our endangered Alberts Lyrebird in the dense rainforest gullies. This is a well formed trail with moderate elevation changes, so Grade 3.

There is a lot of interest in our new hinterland trail after 10 years in the planning. We are doing a 3 day version to fit in with the June long weekend. We will hike the first day through Unicorn Falls, past Hell Hole Falls and camp near Scrubby Creek which is an optional side trail, near the first official campsite on Sand Ridge Rd. Day 2 takes us over Mt Jerusalem with its stunning views into the Tweed Valley, past the arch and camping on Thunderegg Rd near the Flying Fox lookout. On day 3 we hike through the Doon Doon Saddle, morning tea at the TeaTree lookout, then up to the Postman's Tree, past the second camp and exiting down North Rocks Rd into Huonbrook. There is no cost for our free-camping version of the trail.

Mt Jerusalem Circuit Sat May 24
07:00 – 18:00
A small group of us have spent a number of mid-week days opening up some old overgrown logging trails and a new path through Dave's ( pictured) to create a new day walk (anti clockwise), from Upper Wilsons to the Rockslide, then along the ascending old logging trail to Rockface Rd. We will then use the new path across Mt Jerusalem which takes a brilliant new line just under the ridge line as it winds around the tops of several rainforest gullies. Halfway down the Mountain we turn east onto Wild Dog Rd which becomes a razorback ridge heading for Blackbutt Plateau. In the saddle of this ridge we complete the circle safely through a small cliffline into Dave's and walk the last kilometre on a clear trail back to the cars. We are not sure how long this will take; we may even finish after dark. So the first attempt will be for a small party of hardened members only. Register your expression of interest and we will have a chat about your suitability.

Overnight Hike Sat-Sun May 10-11
Mount Jerusalem National Park
10-05-2025 08:00 – 11-05-2025 16:00
From Upper Wilsons we will hike past the intermitent Blue Lagoon (can't guarantee it will have water ) past the bottom of the Rockslide amd then along an easy 'terrace' that takes us to the huge landslide in the very headwater of the Wilsons River. Then there is a steep scramble with plenty of trees and shrubs to grab onto until we reach Rockface Rd. Then it is about 900 metres along the road until we intersect with the new multi-day Gidjuum Gulyani Walk as it ascends Mt Jerusalem. There is a campsite here with permanent water. On Sunday we ascend the 400 sandstone steps to the summit of Mt Jerusalem. There is a new lookout with amazing views over the Tweed Valley. As we descend from the summit we branch off onto Wild Dog Rd which heads towards Blackbutt Plateau. But at the saddle in this narrow ridge, we drop down into Dave Olivers and follow an old logging trail past his macadamia orchard and back to the start. This is the route of our new one day loop but we will be doing it slowly in 2 days with the addition of the Blue Lagoon and visiting the landslide.

Optus Trail, South Golden Beach. Easter Sunday April 20th 9am.
Mrs Birdy
09:00 – 12:00
Come and enjoy a beach to the bush and back circuit starting at Mrs Birdy for Coffee (if it's open).
We'll leave Mrs Birdy at 9am so come a little before if you want to try your luck getting coffee. It's an 8km walk so we should be back by midday. It's definitely a walk for old sandshoes as there are a couple of creeks to paddle through. The route takes us through South Golden Beach then up to the start of the Optus track fire trail and down to the beach, (bring your swimmers) then back along the beach to the start.
Low tide is 9.09am and you'll get to see how much sand Alfred took, it may be a steep, 2 meter, scramble getting on and off the beach.

Upper Wilsons Rockslide- Good Friday
1020 Wilsons Creek Rd
07:30 – 16:00
From the very end of Upper Wilsons Creek Rd we hike for an hour to the foot of the Rockslide pictured above. This photo was taken after the disaster in March '22 when this gully had it's guts ripped out. Today it is full of dense regrowth. We will ascend about 150m until we branch off onto the end of an old logging trail that takes us up to Rockface Rd near the new trail over Mt Jerusalem. We will be checking for fallen branches as this will be the beginning of a new day walk that we plan to go over the Mountain and back into the western side of the Wilsons basin. We will return part of the way and then branch off onto a trail that heads down to another path that leads to a huge landslide. If we have time we will visit this landslide before returning to the cars. This is all rugged offtrack and only for people with this experience. We will meet outside 1020 Wilsons Creek Rd and carshare.
