Sharpe's Beach to Lennox Sat 1 Jun
Sharpes Beach carpark
08:00 – 14:00
This is a favourite walk from Sharpe's Beach along the coast, past Boulder Beach, Pat Morton Lookout, the famous Lennox Head surf break and then a cafe break in Lennox village. We will return at an easy pace, or if you only want to walk one way you can discuss setting up a car shuffle. It is Lennox Festival on Saturday so Lennox will be alive with stallsmusic and food. You may want to stay longer! We can work out what people would like to do on the day.

Secret Chasm May 11
08:00 – 17:00
We have reluctantly decided to postpone the planned Postman's Track hike until Saturday July 6 due to the incessant showery weather. We will still meet at Rummery Park Campground this Saturday to hike up Peates Mtn Rd to the seldom visited Secret Chasm on the edge of the Wanganui Gorge. There is an amazing waterfall that will be cascading down one wall of the chasm in this weather, something I haven't seen for years. If the showers get us too wet, we can easily turn back. In contrast, once we were to begin the Postman's Track, we would be committed to finish it because the party coming from the other end cannot be contacted to turn back as well.
The new date for the Postman's track will have camping options.

Koonyum Range Traverse Apr 20
Upper Wilsons Creek
07:30 – 17:00
This is a full day traversing between the end of the East Koonyum Range and the West Koonyum Range, ending in Upper Wilsons Creek.
After a steep descent we will be crossing above a huge landslide that runs down into Palmwoods. We take a safe path across the saddle. Then we scrub bash up to Point 656 which has sweeping views up to Tweed Heads and around to the Byron lighthouse and all over the Mainarm Valley. The hike then follows the ridgeline until we take a shortcut off the route of previous years, scrambling down a safe but very steep descent through the cliff-lines beside a spectacular rockslide that was created by last year's flood. The last hour is a gentle slope through giant rainforest trees into a private property in Upper Wilsons Creek.
This is not a beginners hike, and preference will be given to Full Members.

Rocky Creek Dam circuit and sit by the lake
Rocky Creek Dam
08:30 – 15:00
Rocky Creek Dam circuit incorporating the Big Scrub loop. This is a fantastic and varied rainforest walk, most of it on tracks within Nightcap NP, with two creek crossings and calming lake views. The Big Scrub loop offers a feel of how it might have been before settlers with fig trees, giant stinging trees and yellow carabeen towering above and a delightful flowing creek to sit by. We will walk along part of Gibbergunyah Range Road (now a wide track) and then through a grove of the giant Eucalyptus grandis, “Flooded gum" on our return to the dam.
We will walk in silence for periods, and I’ll offer a few nature connection activities along the way. We have time to chat beforehand and at the end when we relax by the lake with our tired legs for tea. The distance is about 9 km. Grade 3.
